Sorting Data on a Form

 

Introduction

Data analysis consists of examining the values stored in an object such as a form.

To analyze the records the form in Form View. To assist you with data analysis, when a form is opened is Form View, the Ribbon is equipped with a section titled Sort & Filter in the Home tab:

You can sort the records of a form in Form View, in Layout View, in Tabular View, in Justified View, or in Split View

To sort records on a form, you must specify the field that would be used as the reference. To do this:

  • Right-click the control (or its accompanying label) that holds the values and click Sort A to Z
  • Click the control or its label. Then, in the Sort & Filter section of the Ribbon, click the Ascending button Ascending

To sort the records in reverse alphabetical, incremental, or chronological:

  • Right-click the control (or its accompanying label) that holds the values and click Sort Z to A
  • Click the control or its label. Then, in the Sort & Filter section of the Ribbon, click the Descending button Descending

Removing the Sorting

In most cases, you should "unsort" a list before continuing. To put the list back in the sequence it previously had:

  • In the Sort & Filter section of the Ribbon, click the Clear All Sorts button Clear All Sorts
  • Right-click the query or form and click Clear All Sorts
